A Unique Challenge For this extraordinary project, our client approached us with a request unlike any other: to recreate an entire mountainside while incorporating a real, naturally formed rock cove. The original cove was carefully cut from the rock formation on-site and shipped all the way back to our studio in Wisconsin. Preserving Natural Beauty Working with an authentic piece of nature presents unique challenges and opportunities. The rock cove had formed over thousands of years, with textures and colors that would be impossible to fully replicate artificially. Our job was to honor that natural beauty while creating a seamless integration. The Process Once the cove arrived at our studio, our team went to work: Assessment: Carefully documenting every detail of the natural rock formation Sculpting: Creating the surrounding mountain structure to perfectly match the natural stone Texturing: Applying techniques that replicate the exact coloring and weathering patterns Integration: Ensuring the cove blends seamlessly into the larger habitat build Finishing Touches The goal was to make it look as though the entire scene had always existed as one complete formation—and the results did not disappoint.
